Introduction to The Wellness Retreat
Tea Meditation Room at Waltham Center
Everyday we are being
bombarded with messages from doctors, pharmaceutical corporations and
supplement marketers about what constitutes health and what disease
interventions you need when you are ailing. They hand out quick
fixes. As result, the health care costs sky-rocket and yet we feel
less and less healthy and well.
In these wellness
retreats, Dr. Chen will teach you the principles and skills of his
holistic health care system. You will become empowered to handle your
own health care, and to live a life of well-being that is joyful and
happy.
The retreats are
organized into an introductory One-Day Retreat and in-depth Three-Day
Retreat. We encourage you start with a One-Day or Three-Day retreat,
and then practice daily at home the principles and skills you have
learned for a month. You can sign up another Three-Day retreat for
evaluation of the benefits of self-care practice to your health
conditions, and make your practice more and more effective and
potent.
Listening to Your Body, Mind and Emotion
Everyone is born with
this ability to listen. In this retreat you will learn how to listen
to your body, detect problems early, and how to prevent them to
become serious diseases. You will find that changes needed for good
health are do-able, simple, and easy. When you listen to, and
understand your own body, you can find the right self-care within
you; and if necessary seek out the right medical treatment from your
physicians. You will achieve and maintain optimal good health. You
will learn:
- How to listen to
your body, how to assess your health, and find where your body is
shutting down.
- How to quiet your
mind and detect subtle dysfunctions in your body.
Relaxing Tensions: How to overcome Tension-Related Health Conditions
Our daily lives are
filled with stress, which causes tension. Tension creates fear, and
fear stunts your life. You can find these places where tension
resides and then get rid of it. Tension feels tight, numb, painful,
and you have a general uncomfortable feeling-of-being in your body.
These sensations, when left untreated, become more problematic and
debilitating. This tension is treatable by listening to your body and
relaxing. You can live a pain free, courageous life, unburdened by
pain. You will learn:
- How to relax
tensions physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Eating Well: How to Overcome Diet-Related Health Conditions
Eating well is
paramount to living well. In our culture we have lost the pleasure of
eating. Eating has become associated with guilt. It is not celebrated
and has become de-coupled from pleasure. This retreat rekindles your
appetite and teaches what eating well is about: pleasure, relaxation,
and nourishment. It discusses:
- Pleasure found in
the aroma, taste, and texture of food.
- Nourishment and
how to get what you need from food.
- What appetite is
and what it means for you.
- How to restore
healthy weight
Dr. Chen's philosophy
is authentic and truthful. He lives by the principles he teaches, and
speaks with authenticity and experience. His message is not packaged.
Our bodies are individuals, so too are the lessons you take away. The
simple skills you learn here are profound and will benefit you for
life. The experience will be transformative and set you on a path to
healthy living and well-being.
