Tai Chi Class at Mission Park
Tai Chi Exercise to Prevent Senior Citizens from Falling
BOSTON, Mass., May 3, 2006 - Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH) awarded a grant for Dr. Miles Chong Chen, Director of
Chi Wellness Clinic to teach senior residents Tai Chi exercise and sustainable wellness at two housing complexes.
Mr. Bruce Smith, Director of government and community programs at HSPH, has proposed this ten-week initiative to empower residents
around the Longwood Medical Area to explore alternative health and fitness programs.
Tai Chi Class at Back of Hill
Dr. Chen will teach the concept of self-care and sustainable wellness skills, to listen to and detect muscular tensions in the body,
stretching, loosing up joints from head to toe, and simplified Tai Chi movements. There are twenty five students at the Mission Park and Roxbury Tenants of Harvard Association, 835 Huntington
Avenue in Boston, and fifteen students at the Back of the Hill Apartments, 100 South Huntington Avenue
Jamaica Plain in Boston.
